A Safe Haven for Animals in Need

Since 2017, rescuing lives in Mompiche, Ecuador.

Who we are

FEMA – Fundación para la Erradicación del Maltrato y Abandono de Animales – is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and rescuing abandoned and mistreated animals.

We provide food, medical care, and a loving home for animals until they are sterilized and ready for adoption. Beyond rescue, we promote responsible pet ownership to reduce animal suffering in our community.

Animal Rescue Mompiche.
A safe place for those who have nowhere else to go.

Goal One
Rescue

We save animals from dangerous situations, abuse, and abandonment - giving them a second chance at life. Before FEMA was founded, there was no animal protection organization in the entire Esmeraldas province. Animals were left without help.

Goal Two
Heal

Every animal receives the medical care they need, from emergency treatment to routine checkups. We provide food, shelter, and attention until they are healthy and ready for a new life.

Goal Three
Sterilize

We run sterilization campaigns every four months to control overpopulation and promote animal health. Many local families cannot afford the full cost of veterinary procedures – our campaigns help bridge that gap.

Meet Fabiola.

A two-month summer job became her life’s mission.

When Fabiola adopted 10 dogs from the hotel keeper, she realized that animals in the province were completely unprotected.

That question changed everything. She dedicated her life to helping the most vulnerable, creating a refuge for abandoned animals. 10 years ago, she started running sterilization campaigns and promoting responsible pet ownership.

Today, FEMA cares for dogs, cats, and horses – proof that one person's compassion can create real change.

The 10 dogs had me. But what about the rest?

The Reality we Face.

Running an animal shelter is hard – and funding is our biggest challenge.

Sterilization campaigns are essential but expensive. Local families want to help but can't afford veterinary costs. Food and medicine for 100 animals adds up quickly.

That's why a group of former volunteers came together in Switzerland to build a bridge and make it easier for supporters to contribute from Europe.

Every donation, no matter how small, directly impacts an animal's life.
